Price

Is Forsk free?
Forsk for Rhino 7 on Mac is free for early testers. Paid plans come later, and early testers keep their free licence on Rhino 7 for Mac.
What about Rhino 8 or Windows?
They are not supported yet. Join the waitlist and you get a special offer when your version launches.
Does chat cost anything?
Chat uses your own xAI Grok key, so xAI bills your xAI account for what you use. Prices are on console.x.ai. Everything except chat works without a key.

Setup

Which Rhino do I need?
Rhino 7 for Mac. Forsk is tested on 7.38. Choose Rhinoceros → About Rhinoceros to see your version.
Do I need the Terminal or Python?
No. Set up Forsk downloads and installs everything in the background, with no Terminal and no restart.
Where do I get a Grok key?
Click Get a key in Set up Forsk, or go to console.x.ai. Create a key there, copy it and paste it into Add Grok key.
How do I change or remove my key?
Click the gear in the Forsk panel, then Grok API key. Paste a new key and click Save, or click Remove.
What works without a key?
Generate 3D, Print, the file exports, opening a DXF and the draw tools. Only chat needs the key.

Using Forsk

What can Forsk read?
Your own 2D curves in Rhino, a DXF, a vector PDF of a plan, or a scan or photo of a plan. For scans and photos you click two points in the image and type the real distance between them.
Can it do more than one storey?
Not yet. Multiple storeys are coming soon. See the roadmap.
What do I get when I print?
A numbered drawing set on A4 to A1: front sheet, plans, facades, sections and lists. It saves as a vector PDF, DWG/DXF per sheet, IFC4 and a takeoff CSV.
Are the areas exact?
No. BTA, BRA and room floor areas are estimates for early planning, not measured to NS 3940.
Is the daylight result a simulation?
No. It is a first-pass daylight-factor estimate per room under a CIE overcast sky, for early planning and comparing concept options. Don’t use it as a measurement.

Privacy

What leaves my Mac?
Your drawings, images and geometry stay on your Mac. Chat sends the text you type and facts such as wall lengths and room names to xAI with your own key. Forsk also asks forsk.app once per Rhino session whether there is a newer version. If you connect Rhino to your account, it sends your Mac’s name and versions and checks your licence. A support report goes to forsk.app when you send one. Image to vector runs on your Mac, and plan images are never sent to the chat model. More in the privacy policy.
Where is my key stored?
On your Mac only, in a private file in the .forsk folder in your home folder.
Can I use image scans for paid work?
Reading scans and photos uses the CubiCasa5k model, which is licensed for non-commercial use only. Vector PDFs and DXFs have no such limit.

Problems

I typed Forsk and nothing happened.
Quit Rhino 7 fully and open it again after installing. If it still fails, check that forsk shows under Installed in Package Manager.
Daylight or Image to vector opens the Set up card.
That part isn’t set up yet. Click Set up on the Daylight & image scan row and wait for Ready.
Something is broken. How do I report it?
Ask the Support role in the Forsk panel and it files the report for you. Known issues are on open tickets.
